Dr. Gordon and me 🥰 Is there anything Dr. Gordon can't do? 😌 🙂 Always in awe of his brilliance, his genius, his integrity, and his authencity. So real, so warm, so brilliant. I am so blessed to have him in my life.

I found him sitting and listening to me playing the Schubert B-flat sonata after the masterclass. So I asked him for an autograph ✍🏻🙂

Ms. Schein, more than a student of Arthur Rubinstein, more than the wife of Earl Carlyss (who took this picture of us), more than a fabulous pianist, more than a wonderful warm person. She's so much more. She invited me to her NY cottage. I lost the address and have regretted not asking her for it again.

I have a picture with him that I cannot find!! 😂 My lessons with him were mostly me admiring his inhuman technique. I will find this picture hopefully. Here's what's written on the Juilliard website: "Pianist Joseph Kalichstein was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 1969, he won the Leventritt International Piano Competition. He has appeared with many of the world’s major orchestras, including the Berlin, London, Boston, and Chicago Symphony Orchestras, the Cleveland Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and London Symphony. He has played solo recitals and chamber appearances in annual tours of Europe, North America, the Far East, and Australia. Kalichstein has made regular appearances at the La Jolla, Aspen, Ravinia, Santa Fe, Tanglewood, and Verbier summer festivals. He has made recordings for Audiofon, Erato, Koch International, Nimbus, RCA, and Vanguard. He is a founding member (1977) of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, which was named 2002 Musical America Ensemble of the Year. He has been a chamber music consultant to the Kennedy Center since 1997 and he is artistic director of the Fortas Chamber Music Concerts at the Kennedy Center. Kalichstein has studied in Israel with Joshua Shor. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard, where he studied with Edward Steuermann and Ilona Kabos. In the summer of 1969, he studied with Vladimir Ashkenazy. Kalichstein has been a piano faculty member at Juilliard since 1983 and since 2003 has served as the Edwin S. and Nancy A. Marks Chair in Chamber Music Studies."

I regret the fact that I wasn't fond of pictures, recordings.  If I can turn back the time, I'd record all my performances, all thousands of them, I'd take more pictures of all my performances, all thousands of them.  I'd also take a thousand pictures with everyone I've met in my musical journey.  With Marc Durand, I'd do the recordings, pictures, of our lessons, masterclass, and dinner outings.  Thousands. A wonderful teacher, a wonderful pianist, and a wonderful artist.  He called me "babygirl" and not by my name, which I totally preferred.
Here's what's written about him in The Canadian Encyclopedia:

One of my conducting teachers.  One day after class, I stayed behind to practice in the classroom.  He asked me what I am working on and then stayed and listened to my Ravel La Valse.  He used to tell us about Otto Klemperer during class.

My long time teacher, Mr. John Perry. Despite the years I've worked with him, this is the only picture I have with him. I had my first lesson with him at age 15.
